How to obtain Graduate Trainee visa

To qualify for this route, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Employed by the sponsoring organisation at the time of application, with a minimum of three months’ prior work experience with the organisation outside the UK.
  • Additionally, candidates must hold sponsorship for a qualified position with a standard salary of at least £23,100 per year or the prevailing “going rate” for the role. They should demonstrate a clear progression toward a management or specialist role within the sponsoring organisation as part of a structured graduate training program.
  • Applicants must possess a valid Certificate of Sponsorship for the intended position, provided by an employer authorized by the UK Home Office to sponsor Graduate Trainees.

Secondment Worker Route

The Secondment Worker route, tailored for foreign employees temporarily assigned to the UK as part of significant contracts or investments by their overseas companies. This pathway offers a novel entry method into the country.

To be considered for this route, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Currently employed by a foreign company holding a Home Office-registered contract with their UK Sponsor, with a minimum of 12 months’ prior work experience with the foreign company outside the UK.
  • Possess a valid Certificate of Sponsorship for the desired position, provided by an employer authorized by the UK Home Office to sponsor Secondment Workers, and holding a Home Office-registered contract with the overseas company where the applicant will be working.
  • Sponsored for qualifying employment requiring a minimum skill level.

Service Supplier Route

The Service Supplier route is a novel addition to UK trade agreements, replacing the T5 International Agreement routes.

This pathway is designed for contractual service suppliers employed by foreign service providers or self-employed independent professionals outside the UK. Its aim is to facilitate temporary work in the UK, delivering services covered by UK international trade agreements. This new route supersedes provisions for contractual service providers and independent professionals under the Temporary Work – International Agreement route.

To qualify for this route, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Employed by or providing services to an overseas service provider that will offer services to their UK Sponsor, with a minimum of 12 months’ prior work experience in this capacity outside the UK.
  • Sponsored for a qualifying position requiring a minimum skill level of at least a university degree or equivalent technical qualification and experience. Alternatively, possessing a university degree or equivalent technical qualification and experience.
  • Possessing a valid Certificate of Sponsorship for the intended job, issued by an employer authorized by the UK Home Office to sponsor Service Suppliers, and holding a Home Office-registered contract with an overseas service provider for whom the candidate will work in the UK.
  • Meeting the nationality requirements specified for this route as a Service Supplier.

Mandatory requirements for all Global Business Mobility routes:

The newly implemented Immigration Rules stipulate that applicants will be subjected to specific requirements based on their assignment type. These requirements are as follows:

  • Sponsorship from the UK organisation that receives applicants.
  • The right level of skill set for the job.
  • A salary as per their route requirement
  • Minimum number of years a candidate has worked for the foreign company.
  • Temporary assignments are expected (though adjustable and routes should be convertible to more permanent positions)
